2018 - The Year That Was

The Minx Team at the Cotton Mills

What an exciting and rewarding year 2018 has been for Minx Architecture!

Our collaborations:

Our collaboration with Fulton Trotter Brisbane and Sydney is flourishing with our first staff swap taking place last month and conversations continuing about practice and project development. We are looking forward to working together on some more interesting projects in 2019.

Our awards:

Two of our school projects were recognised in the LEA and VSBA School Design Awards:

Hazel Glen College was a finalist in the awards with the final stage completed this year and Hampton Park Primary School won the outdoor learning environments award for the STEAM Centre Project.

We have grown!

Our first year in our Geelong Studio has been very busy with the completion of the new Performing Arts Centre at Belmont High School and refurbishment projects at St Mary MacKilliop Primary School in Bannockburn and St Thomas Aquinas Primary School in Norlane.

We have welcomed new staff to our team. Our new Studio Manager Victoria has made sure it all runs smoothly at Minx and Lisa has taken over our book keeping work from George, who we said goodbye to after 10 years of dedicated service.

Staff achievements:

Our Staff have also had some career highlights: James has become a registered Architect and Holly successfully completed her Bachelor of Environments. Our team has now grown to 15 but we are still recruiting so if you know anyone who would like to join us make sure they drop us a line!

Other stuff:

Our support of Movember and Artists for Kids Culture saw us raise over $1,500 for charity and we have continued our involvement in mentoring Melbourne University Architecture students.

Jane has been very busy with her role on the LEA Victorian chapter committee and assisting the VSBA in developing their new Brief and Design Guidelines.

Jenny has been working closely with the VSBA to develop their new ESD guidelines and the ACA explaining the processes involved in the procurement and delivery of State Government work.

We are all looking forward to a well earned Holiday.

Our office will be closed from the 21st of December 2018 through until the 9th of January 2019.

We wish all of our clients, consultants and team a relaxing, happy and safe holiday and look forward to working together again in 2019.
